Yema Conteh is passionate about helping others and brings an interdisciplinary perspective when it comes to fostering healthy, climate resilient communities. She graduated from UC Riverside with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Minor in Gender and Sexuality, with coursework focusing on Gender and Sustainability. Growing up in the San Fernando Valley, where heat waves and wildfires are becoming more prevalent, has shaped her interest in working in this field and addressing these local climate change issues within her community.
Prior to Climate Resolve, Yema served as a CivicSpark Fellow with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (DPH). In this position, she coordinated robust stakeholder engagement with LA County departments, public health programs, non-profits, and community based organizations for the department’s Climate Change and Health Equity Report. She also amplified DPH’s climate change communications efforts by composing climate change and health equity messaging.
In her free time, Yema enjoys watching documentaries, running, going on local hikes, and getting brunch with friends.
